Are you a lawyer?
No, I am a trained paralegal providing Will, Enduring Power of Attorney, and Personal Directive document preparation services in Alberta.
My role is to explain the documents, answer questions about the process, and prepare your documents based on your instructions.
Some estate planning situations are more complex and require legal advice. If your circumstances fall outside the services I provide, I will be upfront with you and can refer you to an experienced estate lawyer. My goal is to make sure you receive the right help for your situation.
Do I need all three documents?
I believe everyone should have a Will, Enduring Power of Attorney and Personal Directive. Each document addresses a different situation, and together they provide a more complete plan for you and your family.
Without an Enduring Power of Attorney and Personal Directive, someone may need to apply to the Court to be appointed to make decision for you if you become incapable. This can be a costly and time consuming process.
What if don't know what I want yet?
That's completely okay. You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet. My role is to help you understand the purpose of each document so you can make informed decisions that reflect your wishes.
What happens after I complete the Estate Planning Guide?
Once you've completed the Guide, contact me by phone or email to arrange a meeting. We'll review the Guide, discuss your wishes, answer any questions you may have, and ensure I clearly understand your instructions before I preparing your documents.
Will I get to review my documents before I sign them?
Yes. I will prepare your documents in clear, understandable language—without unnecessary legal jargon. Once they're ready, I'll email them to you for review. You'll have an opportunity to read through everything at your own pace, ask questions, and request any changes before your final signing appointment.
Do you offer in-home or mobile visits?
Yes. I offer mobile appointments throughout Edmonton and many surrounding communities. We can meet you in the comfort of your home or another convenient location that works for you. Home visits are especially helpful for seniors, busy families, or anyone who prefers not to travel.
How long does the process take?
The timeline depends on how quickly you are able to complete the Estate Planning Guide and provide the information needed to prepare your documents.
I never want you to feel rushed. Estate planning is one of the most important gifts you can leave your loved ones, and I want you to have the time you need to make decisions with confidence while also keeping the process moving towards completion.
Once I have everything I need, I typically prepare draft documents within a week. You'll then have time to review them, ask questions, and request any changes before your signing appointment.
If you require your documents sooner, rush preparation is available for an additional fee.
What areas do you serve?
I primarily offer in-person appointments throughout Edmonton and surrounding communities, including St. Albert, Morinville, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Fort Saskatchewan.
If you're outside this area, please contact me. In many cases, I can still assist clients anywhere in Alberta through Zoom, email, and clear signing instructions.
Can I prepare just one document?
Yes. While many people choose a complete estate plan, you don't have to purchase a package. Individual Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and Personal Directives are available if you only need one or two documents. Please see my À la Carte Pricing for more information.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payment by e-Transfer or cash. After our initial meeting, I'll provide payment details before I begin preparing your documents.
